Every year, former President Barack Obama shares his selections for the best music, books, and films, offering a glimpse into his personal tastes. This year, a song by Icelandic artist Laufey has made the list.
In a post on social media today, Obama unveiled his latest playlist, featuring Laufey’s enchanting track “Silver Lining.” Alongside her song, the list includes popular hits such as “Luther,” featuring Kendrick Lamar and SZA, “Nice to Each Other” by Olivia Dean, “Ordinary” from Alex Warren, and “Sexo, Violencia Y Llantas” by Rosalía.
Laufey has quickly risen to prominence as one of Iceland’s most beloved singers. Currently on a concert tour, she is set to wrap up her performances with a show in Kópavogur. Her talent has not gone unnoticed; she has already won a Grammy and is nominated for her latest album, “A Matter of Time.”
Among Obama’s favorite books this year are “Paper Girl” by Beth Macy, “1929” by Andrew Ross Sorkin, and “The Look” penned by none other than Michelle Obama herself—a nod to his unabashed admiration for her literary contributions.
Top of his movie list is “One Battle After Another,” featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, followed closely by “Sinners.” The former president also enjoyed viewing “Jay Kelly,” “The Secret Agent,” and “Hamnet.”
