China is making every effort to search for Chinese and foreign nationals who are missing in the mudslide disaster in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday when holding talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Bishkek.
China is also taking all necessary measures to relocate and resettle those affected, provide medical treatment for the injured and prevent secondary disasters, Xi said.
At the same time, China has sent rescuers to Nepal and provided emergency assistance, he said, adding that China is sincerely grateful to President Japarov for expressing condolences over the disaster.
Xi arrived in Bishkek on Sunday afternoon to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2026 and pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan at Japarov’s invitation.
Xi expects stronger foundation, brighter future for China-Russia ties
Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday that, under his and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategic guidance and through the joint efforts of both sides, the foundation of China-Russia relations will become ever stronger, their progress ever steadier, and their future ever brighter.
Xi made the remarks in a meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2026 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Xi said that during the successful state visit of Putin to China in May, he and Putin made arrangements to steer bilateral relations toward higher-quality and higher-level development from a strategic and long-term perspective, and reached consensus on deepening cooperation between China and Russia across various sectors under the new circumstances.
The competent authorities of the two countries are actively implementing the consensus, with substantial results already made, Xi said, adding that exchanges and cooperation between the two sides have maintained a strong momentum.
Xi noted that the international landscape is witnessing a notable increase in uncertain and unpredictable factors, against the backdrop of accelerating profound changes unseen in a century. But the pursuit of people across the world of peace, development, cooperation and win-win outcomes remains unchanged, he added.
The SCO shoulders the important responsibility for safeguarding regional stability and promoting regional development, Xi said.
China, he said, stands ready to work with Russia and other parties to jointly chart the course for the development of the SCO, help ensure its steady and sustained progress, and strengthen the driving force for reform of global governance and the advancement of an equal and orderly multipolar world.
Amid a turbulent and complex international landscape, Russia and China have continuously deepened their comprehensive strategic coordination, upholding equality, mutual trust, and mutual support, while cooperation and development across various fields have advanced rapidly, and Russia-China relations have become a model for relations between countries, Putin said.
Russia is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with China, strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, industry, transportation, and science and technology, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote bilateral relations to achieve new results, he said.
Through the joint efforts of all parties, the SCO has evolved into a dynamic and efficient regional cooperation platform with significant international influence, said Putin, noting that Russia and China should continuously strengthen their solidarity and cooperation within the organization and play a guiding role.
Russia is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China within multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the BRICS mechanism and the G20, support China in hosting the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, and jointly uphold world peace, stability and prosperity, he said.
The two heads of state also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
China ready to advance hand in hand along path of modernization with Mongolia
Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday that China is ready to work with Mongolia to foster more areas of growth for mutually beneficial cooperation and advance hand in hand along the two nations’ respective paths of modernization.
Xi made the remarks in a meeting with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2026 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Noting that China and Mongolia are close neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, Xi said that peaceful coexistence, mutual support and solidarity as well as mutually beneficial cooperation have always been the mainstream and defining feature of bilateral relations.
China will continue to place China-Mongolia relations in an important position in its neighborhood diplomacy, and will work together with Mongolia to consolidate strategic mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and promote people-to-people connectivity, to inject greater vitality into the comprehensive strategic partnership and promote the building of the China-Mongolia community with a shared future, Xi said.
Both sides should consolidate the political foundation for the development of China-Mongolia relations, respect each other’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, Xi stressed.
Xi voiced China’s readiness to strengthen alignment of development strategies with Mongolia, promote traditional cooperation in trade and connectivity, as well as in energy and mineral resources, and explore the potential for cooperation in emerging fields such as green minerals, artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
China hopes that Mongolia will effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, said Xi, urging both sides to strengthen coordination and cooperation in multilateral affairs and jointly address global challenges.
Khurelsukh, for his part, said that Mongolia and China are friendly neighbors who have always respected and trusted each other and maintained good-neighborly relations, regardless of changes in the international situation.
China’s development has provided major opportunities for neighboring countries and is driving the development of Asia and the world, he added.
Deepening friendly cooperation with China is a top priority of Mongolia’s foreign policy, he said, adding that Mongolia stands ready to continuously consolidate political mutual trust with China, enhance cooperation in trade and investment, industry, agriculture, mining and the green economy, and advance bilateral relations to new heights.
Mongolia firmly adheres to the one-China principle and recognizes that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. Issues related to Xinjiang, Xizang and Hong Kong are China’s internal affairs, he said.
The Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Xi and the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity are of great significance for maintaining world peace and security, promoting sustainable development, and addressing global challenges, said Khurelsukh, adding that Mongolia stands ready to work with China to jointly implement them.
