Sharp/NEC Rebrands as Sharp: A New Chapter in Display Solutions
The prominent Japanese technology firm Sharp/NEC, renowned for its cutting-edge information screens and display solutions, has officially rebranded. Henceforth, the company will operate solely under the name Sharp.
In a recent press release issued by Ofar, Sharp/NEC’s service partner in Iceland, it was confirmed that warranty terms and service provisions for existing NEC solutions will remain unchanged.
Transition Takes Effect
This shift became official on November 1. From this date, all new products will carry the Sharp branding, although NEC-branded items will still be available as supplies last, as detailed in the announcement.
Back in 2020, Sharp Corporation and NEC Display Solutions Ltd. joined forces, forming Sharp NEC Display Solutions Ltd. to bolster their presence in the global market. While Sharp initially held a majority stake, the company recently completed the acquisition of NEC’s remaining shares. As of November 1, all offerings from this reinvigorated entity will proudly bear the Sharp label.
Ofar, a steadfast service provider for NEC in Iceland since 2006, reassured customers that the warranty and support for current NEC display solutions would not be affected by this transition.
A Longstanding Partnership
Since 2006, Ofar and Sharp/NEC have stood at the forefront of display solutions in Iceland. Their collaboration has not gone unnoticed; they were recently nominated for the “Retail Project of the Year” at the AV Awards 2025, in recognition of their work on information screens in the new arrival and baggage halls of Keflavík Airport.
This rebranding marks an exciting new chapter for Sharp as it continues to innovate and lead in the display technology arena, ensuring that quality and service remain paramount for its customers.
