Paris Jackson Celebrates Six Years of Sobriety Amid Recovery Reflections
Paris Jackson, daughter of pop icon Michael Jackson, has hit a significant personal milestone — nearly six years drug-free. In a candid social media video, the 27-year-old got unusually open about the lasting physical toll her past addiction has taken on her body.
She showed followers a perforated septum, a direct consequence of her former drug use. Holding up her phone’s flashlight to her nose, she demonstrated how it produces a whistling sound with every breath. “It’s from what you think it’s from. Don’t do drugs, kids,” she said plainly — a warning that landed harder for its lack of drama.
Jackson has been living with the septum condition since she was 20, and at times it has got in the way of her music work. Surgery is an option she’s ruled out, largely because she doesn’t want to take the medication the procedure would require. She handled the topic with a dark sense of humour, saying “Dope ruined my life,” while also joking that she could “pull a spaghetti through the hole.”
Last month, at an award ceremony where she received the Shining Star Award, Jackson spoke about what sobriety means to her. “I am truly grateful to be part of a movement that is so in line with my higher purpose,” she said. “I pray that I can continue to help others.”
As Michael Jackson’s only daughter, Paris has two brothers — Prince Michael, aged 28, and Bigi, aged 23. Her willingness to speak this honestly about addiction and its consequences has made her a genuine voice for others going through something similar.
