On Friday afternoon, a tragic incident unfolded in Stockholm when an SL bus collided with a bus shelter on Valhallavägen, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The police have now completed their identification of the victims.
The victims included two women, both aged 65, and a third woman who was 55. According to a statement from the police, “Two of the deceased are women aged 65. The police have been able to issue death notices to their relatives. The third person who died is a woman aged 55. Her relatives are being sought by the police in another European country.”
“We have been working diligently to identify these individuals and locate their relatives,” remarked Ola Österling of the police.
### Careers Cut Short
Among the deceased, one woman was employed at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, while another worked at Karolinska University Hospital. Ulrika Holm, finance director at the Prosecutor’s Office, shared the somber atmosphere at her workplace: “A process is currently underway involving crisis support for our staff. Everyone here is in mourning, and we are processing this tragedy together.”
Henrik Pehrsson, press secretary at Karolinska Hospital, provided insight into their response: “We have updated employees about the incident, but for further details, we must refer to the police. Given the size of Karolinska, we’ve communicated via the intranet and held personal meetings with those most closely affected.”
### Ongoing Investigation
In addition to the fatalities, three individuals were injured in the accident and were taken to the hospital. As of Monday, two remained hospitalized, with their conditions reportedly stable.
The police investigation into this serious incident is ongoing. Senior prosecutor Carolina Frohm emphasized the urgency of the inquiry: “The investigation is currently in an intensive phase, involving both interrogations and technical analyses. Our aim is to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragedy. The suspicion of causing another’s death remains active until further notice.”
