Transitioning from Radio to Energy Challenges

Media actress Hafdís Helga Helgadóttir has taken on a new role as the information representative for Samorka, the interest association representing energy and utility companies in Iceland. She holds a bachelor’s degree in drama from the Iceland Academy of the Arts — a background that gives her a sharper instinct for communication than most people stepping into this kind of position.

Before joining Samorka, she spent eight years at the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation, working as a reporter and programmer. Most recently she was the coordinator for Morning Radio on Rás 2, a role that put her storytelling instincts front and centre every day. Moving from a breakfast radio desk to the energy sector is a genuine shift, and it will be interesting to see what that perspective brings to Samorka’s work.
