Support Meeting Called for Parents of Múlaborg Preschoolers
Reykjavík has arranged a support meeting for tomorrow, bringing together psychologists and the parents of preschool children at Múlaborg. The move comes ahead of tonight’s broadcast of Kveiksþáttur on national television, which is expected to cover deeply troubling events linked to the kindergarten.
According to mbl.is, the programme will focus on crimes allegedly committed by an employee at the kindergarten. The individual stands accused of serious offences, including rape, against a young girl from the school.
City authorities have drawn criticism for how they have handled — or failed to handle — the situation so far.
A Pattern of Concern
This is not the first time parents have gathered over the Múlaborg case. Just last week, a similar meeting was held after media reports emerged about charges against the same individual, who had previously been suspected of crimes involving ten children. The district prosecutor chose not to pursue those cases, and they were effectively closed.
That parents keep coming back together says a great deal about how seriously they are taking this. Many are still looking for clear answers and some reassurance that their children are safe.
