The Sweet Shift: Ísbúð Huppu Relocates to Ægissíða
Ísbúð Huppu is preparing to make a notable move from Seltjarnarnes in Vesturbær, Reykjavík, to the premises at Ægissíða, the former home of the restaurant 2Guys. The transition was recently reported in Morgunblaðið.
Gunnar Már Þráinsson, the manager of Huppu, shared that the appeal of the new location in Vesturbæn played a significant role in their decision. Since 2022, Huppu has delighted locals with its ice cream offerings at Austurströnd. Come January, however, the shop will open its doors at the Ægissíða address.
Historically, the Ægissíða site has seen various businesses thrive. Notably, a video rental and convenience store once flourished there for many years. Earlier this year, the owners of 2Guys shuttered their doors after a year of operation, with the restaurant now relocated to Gnoðarvogur.
The building has a rich culinary history, having first welcomed the restaurant Borðið in 2016, followed by the introduction of Smass, which operated alongside Chido. As Ísbúð Huppu embarks on this exciting chapter, it continues to contribute to the vibrant tapestry of Reykjavík’s dining scene.
