Hjörtur Bergstað, chairman of Málnir and the equestrian association Fáks, has been in the news lately — and not just for his work in the saddle. He’s been turning up alongside Ragnheiður Guðfinna Guðnadóttir, an occupational psychology consultant and Miss Iceland 2001, and the two have clearly caught people’s attention.

They’ve been spotted at various events together, including gatherings held in Tungnaréts. The pair’s 16-year age gap — Hjörtur was born in 1964, Ragnheiður in 1980 — hasn’t gone unnoticed, but by all appearances the connection between them is real.

Hjörtur is a well-known figure in Iceland’s equestrian world. Most recently he chaired the National Equestrian Championship in 2024. Ragnheiður brings her own impressive CV to the table: a master’s degree in Social and Work Psychology, more than a decade of consulting and mentoring work since 2010, and a past relationship with the investor and writer Reyni Finndal Grétarsson.

Smartland wishes them both well as they take this new step together.
