The Sweet Shift: Ísbúð Huppu Relocates to Ægissíða
Ísbúð Huppu is on the move. The popular ice cream shop is leaving its spot in Seltjarnarnes in Vesturbær, Reykjavík, and heading to Ægissíða — the address most recently occupied by the restaurant 2Guys. Morgunblaðið first reported the change.
Gunnar Már Þráinsson, who manages Huppu, said the new location in Vesturbær was a big part of what drew them there. The shop has been serving ice cream at Austurströnd since 2022, but from January it will be operating out of Ægissíða.
The Ægissíða address has a long commercial life behind it. A video rental and convenience store ran there for years before other businesses moved in. Earlier this year, the owners of 2Guys closed up after about a year of trading — the restaurant has since moved to Gnoðarvogur.
The building itself has seen a fair bit of culinary history. Borðið opened there in 2016, then came Smass, which ran alongside Chido. Ísbúð Huppu is the latest chapter in that story, adding another reason to wander down to that stretch of Reykjavík.
