Kontiki and Voigt Travel Return to Winter Wonderland in North Iceland

Once again, North Iceland is set to bask in the glow of winter tourism, thanks to the arrival of Kontiki and Voigt Travel. This past Sunday marked a significant event as the Swiss travel agency Kontiki launched its winter flights from Zurich to Akureyri, reinvigorating the local travel scene.

This season marks Kontiki’s second foray into winter trips to North Iceland, following the success of its 2024 schedule. Over the next six weeks, from February through March, travelers will have the opportunity to embark on weekly flights to Akureyri, immersing themselves in the breathtaking charm of North Iceland’s winter landscapes.

Meanwhile, the Dutch travel agency Voigt Travel, which has been a familiar presence since 2019, also recommenced its operations earlier this January. They will be running ten flights during the winter season, with most visitors planning to enjoy a full week in this stunning Arctic haven.

The return of these flights is a welcome boost for local tourism operators, especially as easyJet enhances connectivity with scheduled direct flights from both London Gatwick and Manchester. The influx of visitors is poised to bring renewed vibrancy to North Iceland, showcasing the region’s winter allure to a broader audience.
